Heineken JazzFest , nace en San Juan de Puerto Rico , en el año 1991 con dos objetivos : dar a conocer el género del Jazz ( en sus comienzos exclusivamente el Jazz Latíno ... a partir de 2003 comienzan a acudir al Anuario otras ramas del Jazz ) y ayudar a educar a los jóvenes músicos talentosos por medio de becas de estudio y la creación de talleres donde profesores de la universidad de Berkelee de Boston puedan enseñar en la isla , donde no tan sólo los puertorriqueños han sido los beneficiados sino también estudiantes de Latinoamérica .
El Primer Festival fue en 1991 cuyo homenajeado fue Paquito D’ Rivera . Aquí tenemos la grabación de ese Primer Encuentro del HEINEKEN JAZZFEST ... A disfrutarlo !!!
