Una de las mejores noticias de este 2010 es la de la salida de un nuevo disco de Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Mojo [Warner, 2010], que se pondrá a la venta el 15 de junio, supone la ruptura de ocho años de silencio en estudio.
Es su primer disco desde la publicación de The Last Dj, el grupo ha decidido grabar las canciones en directo, toda la banda tocando al completo. Según ha declarado Tom Petty, han buscado “mostrar a la gente lo que escucha cuando toca con la banda.
En una entrevista concedida a Rolling Stone el pasado noviembre, Petty explicó que el disco es “blues. Algunas canciones son largas, con un estilo de jam session. Un par de cortes suenan como Allman Brothers, no las canciones, la atmósfera de la banda”.

Con un poquito de recelo, me enfrentaba a este disco de versiones de canciones de cantantes britanicos. Los temas son excelentes: the word, dont let me be misunderstood, isnt it a pity, salt on earth.. osea tenemos a los mejores representantes britanicos de todos los tiempos: Stones, Beatles, Costello, Elton John, etc.. y despues de escucharlo varias en varias ocasiones, solo os puedo decir que esta mujer canta tan bien que hace los temas como propios, no son versiones clasicas sino que lleva los temas a su terreno, con esa manera de cantar arrastrando la voz, rompiendose en cada tema. Hay mas orquestacion que en sus discos anteriores, pero sigue reinando ella sobre todo. En Definitiva un gran disco para mi gusto.
