Rodrigo y Gabriela describen su estilo como “una fusión musical”: “Principalmente se compone de ritmos y armonías latinas, pero el rock es la base. No es jazz porque es estructurada y no improvisamos, nuestros solos son exactamente igual a los del disco, y como fanático del metal y de la guitarra uno siempre quiere escuchar el mismo pinche solo!”
Las influencias surgen desde los discos de salsa de la familia hasta los discos LP de la tía de Gabriela de Pink Floyd, Back Sabbath, Queen y Led Zeppelin , y el gusto similar de Rodrigo por el rock clásico. Pero entonces, críticamente les toca crecer durante la era del metal en México. “La gente espera que dos guitarristas acústicos toquen música clásica , pero salpicamos nuestra música con extractos de Led Zep , Hendrix y Metallica, para hacer luego lo mismo con “Stairway to Heaven”. Su música es instrumental “con temas muy líricos.”
Al mencionar la influencia del flamenco rápidamente responden: “Para muchos fans , se escucha como flamenco, y nos encanta el flamenco, pero no lo tocamos,” dice Gabriela.“ El único parecido es que nuestra música es con guitarra y es muy rítmica”.
