El nuevo recopilatorio de Rhino incluye 38 grabaciones nunca publicadas del mítico festival, que este mes de agosto cumple su 40º aniversario.
Son treinta y ocho canciones inéditas, de bandas como the Who, the Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival o Jefferson Airplane que vieron la luz en este recopilatorio, que se publico el 18 de agosto, y que incluye en orden cronológico todas las 77 canciones que se interpretaron en el festival, así como anuncios del escenario y otros sonidos de ambiente. La producción ha sido encargada a Andy Zax y Mason Williams.
Recordemos que en aquel increíble evento actuaron, durante los días 15, 16 y 17 de Agosto de 1969, más de 30 bandas. Entre las cuales se destacan: The Who, Santana, Canned Heat, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ravi Shankar, Jefferson Airplane y por supuesto el gran Jimi Hendrix. En los tres días murieron tres personas y nacieron otras dos y en agosto también cumplen 40 años (felicidades a ellos también). Participaron del evento más de 1.000.000 de personas y se considera sin duda alguna, como el mejor concierto de la historia.
