Uno de los primeros supergrupos del Rock inglés , encasillados dentro del Hard Rock , aunque ya en su disco en directo “ Performance Rockin´ The Fillmore “ (1971) , fue el primer álbum editado en el que en la contraportada aparecía una pequeña etiqueta señalándolo como Heavy Metal , esto en las primeras tiradas del LP que , debido a la duración del mismo , fue originalmente lanzado como álbum doble .

Humble Pie lo formaron originariamente : Steve Marriott ( de Small Faces , vocalista y guitarrista ) , Peter Frampton ( The Herd , vocalista y guitarrista ) , Greg Ridley y Jerry Shirley ( de Spooky Tooth , bajista y baterista respectivamente )
