The Jolly Boys es una banda de mento originaria de Port Antonio , Jamaica , integrada por músicos con más de sesenta años de trayectoria . Se formó en 1955 y tuvieron gran éxito comercial en las décadas de 1980 y 1990 entre los seguidores del reggae y la world music . La repercusión de su álbum Great Expectation hizo resurgir el interés por la música mento.
En 2010 presentaron este álbum que hoy os presentamos y que incluye versiones de canciones clásicas como Rehab de Amy Winehouse , Riders on the Storm de The Doors , Perfect Day de Lou Reed , entre otros . El álbum fusiona arreglos de mento con una base rítmica beat , con un sonido de cuidada belleza rítmica .

Dropkick Murphys es una banda de Punk formada en los barrios de trabajadores inmigrantes irlandeses , en South Boston , uno de los barrios de Boston (EE.UU.) . Ensayaban en el sótano de una barbería propiedad de un amigo, combinando varios tipo de música como Punk , Rock , Folk irlandés o Hardcore dando como resultado un estilo propio al que le han salido muchos seguidores incondicionales , entre los que me incluyo . Un buen amigo mío los definió así : “ Si metes en una cocktelera a The Pogues y a The Smiths , saldrán los Dropkick Murphys “ .
